Today I met with Habitat for Humanity in Saigon. They have a number of projects they are working on, not only to build houses but to improve water and sewage. We are looking to see if we can ‘t protect their ideas and bring them to a larger market.
One thing I learned is that many organizations make donations to build clean water systems. However, within about two years many of these systems stop working because nobody is around to maintain them. One of the ideas was how to address that problem.
I was also surprised to learn that Habitat for Humanity is not very well known outside the US. Last year they built 1200 buildings in Vietnam yet are relatively unknown. You can see from the street where they are located that funding remains an issue.
Even with these traffic jams, nowhere in the world compares with India for the worst driving conditions.
