Last week I wrote about the 2013 Pino Nore Grape Juice from Navarro Vineyards. This week’s sample came from Oakencroft Farm in Charlottesville, Virginia. We ordered several kinds (I think they only offer three), but the clear favorite was TRAMINETTE, which they describe as: “Flowery, aromatic, and thoroughly delicious, this lively white is satisfying sweet, with high notes of ripe Bosc pears, balanced with lemony undertones.” A flowery description, yes–but it was pretty good. We downed everything in one sitting.
Our holiday break has been nice. Not too many places in the world where you can ski on some of the planet’s best snow one day and golf the next. Tal and I did Copper Mountain earlier this week. They need a bit more snow, but what they had was nice: soft, a bit of powder, and no ice! Best of all, no people. No lines all day–which meant lots of uniterrupted runs down the new half pipe.
I couldn’t believe Tal made a birdie on the fifth hole at Blackstone. Not too many twelve year olds can brag about that.
