My narrator, Ray Kallai, just finished the recording and it is all submitted to Audible. It sounds like Audible is a bit behind because of everyone working from home, and we are hoping that they can finalize the audio book within the month. In the meantime, we wait and start rolling out our marketing plan.
The first hurdle we faced in finishing the books was that Audible requires their covers to be square, whereas book covers are rectangles. It took a bit to get Ray’s name added and then covert a rectangular image file into a square one that met Audible’s requirements. Ultimately, I had my daughter do a screenshot and then add the graphics and play around with the shape. We thought we were all finished, but then Audible requires a certain resolution and the screenshot messed that up. Ray figured out a way to fix that and we were able to upload it. If you’re having problems with your upload, let me know and I can tell you what we did. I’ve pasted the cover below.
The other part of a marketing plan that is a moving target is Major League Baseball. We were going to tie to book to this year’s truncated season which parallels nicely with the season in the book. The problem is that in the MLB, the players and owners can’t come to an understanding and there may not be a 2020 season at all. ESPN has tried to sort out the numbers game if you are interested. If that happens, we may need to change some of our marketing plan midstream. We’ll just have to see what happens. It will be a big disappointment if there is no professional baseball this year.
