This week I visited NYC to meet with my agent and discuss the status of my manuscript. It was an eye opening visit, especially learning the current state of the publishing business. In short, it’s quite the mess. The one thing that hasn’t changed is that everyone still takes off the month of August. Thus, we will shortly be submitting the manuscript to editors in a few weeks and hopefully get some traction.
In the meantime, I took the chance to visit Edward Dickerson’s home on 34th Street. When built in the 1870s, it was one of the most fashionable homes in NYC. As you can see, it still stands and is just down the street from the Empire State Building. I think Dickerson would roll over in his grave if he new his elaborate home now housed a massage parlor. I plan to write another article in this home. For now, photos will have to do.
